THE POWER OF PUPPETRY TO IMPACT POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE

WP Puppet Theatre Presents Puppet Power 2025 and Tackles Immigration

Word mark for WP Puppet Theatre's Puppet Power 2025 conference

Presented by W.P. Puppet Theatre Society, the 13th Annual Puppet Power Conference will delve into the complex subject of immigration, offering a creative and innovative perspective through the power of puppetry, on October 18th & 19th, 2025 at The Centre for Newcomers.

“The goal of Puppet Power 2025 is to explore and humanize the complex realities of immigration, refugees, and newcomers, and to offer a unique perspective through the powerful and poetic lens of puppetry,” said Wendy Passmore-Godfrey, W.P. Puppet Theatre’s Founder and Artistic/Executive Director.

“I believe that by bringing together diverse voices and creative practices, we can discover cross cultural and linguistic barriers and share stories of hope, resilience, and solidarity.”

Designed as a call to action and professional development for adults, students, teachers, social workers and ‘helping professionals’ who are seeking mentoring and training in using puppetry in applied settings, this two-day hybrid, ‘Festival of Ideas’ features live-streamed watch parties, puppet making activities, community building, professional puppet performances, and more.

Puppet Power 2025 will include raising awareness of the many interconnected forces that shape global and local immigration, to provide a platform for newcomers and those working in immigrant-serving organizations to share their personal stories and to offer practical and inspiring methodologies for impactful interventions using applied puppetry practices. The two-day event will demonstrate how puppetry bridges cultures and languages and builds understanding and empathy.
