Earth Rangers

As Earth Rangers members, children and their families gain access to a robust program of engaging educational content and activities that make an impact on real-life conservation projects and environmental initiatives, such as raising funds for species at risk, planting a pollinator garden to help bees, or conducting a home energy audit to shrink their carbon footprint. Our members consistently self-identify as Earth Rangers, and take pride in being environmental leaders in their homes, schools, and communities.

Earth Rangers takes pride in the effectiveness of our approach in working with kids to achieve meaningful change. Our programs are proven to have a positive impact on our members, resulting in more confident and socially responsible children. In fact, research conducted with Ipsos Canada in 2015 indicated that Earth Rangers members had a greater knowledge base on
environmental issues and reported significantly higher rates of sustainable behaviours at home as compared to non-members. But perhaps most importantly the survey also found that Earth Rangers Members are significantly more optimistic for the future, more confident in their ability to affect change, and more socially responsible. School Outreach

The Earth Rangers School Assembly is a presentation for Grades 1-6 that uses live animal demonstrations and positive, science-based information to educate students about the importance of protecting biodiversity. In 2019 we visited 47 schools in the Calgary area, reaching more than 16,000 students.

Membership

Our free membership program allows children to become official Earth Rangers themselves, and provides them with fun resources and impactful activities to bring positive environmental change to their homes and communities. All member programs are accessed on our newly reimagined membership platform, the Earth Rangers App. Earth Rangers has built a community of over 14,300 members in the Calgary area.

Missions

Missions are activities that demonstrate how small actions, when undertaken by many, can have significant impact on the environment—such as reducing our home’s carbon footprint, organizing shoreline cleanups, and practicing responsible recycling. They also provide age-appropriate information and context for our planet’s most complex environmental issues. To date, our Calgary members have participated in more than 22,000 Missions.

Wildlife Adoptions

Kids who sign up to be Earth Rangers can directly contribute to the protection of wildlife through the Wildlife Adoptions Program. It educates children and their families about the importance of biodiversity, and raises funds for research, species monitoring, and habitat restoration. To date, Calgary members have raised over $170,000 for conservation.

Clubs

The Earth Rangers Clubs Program provides teachers with a free, easy-to-use program that allows them to either engage their classroom as a Club, or run a school-wide Club, and take action with their students to help animals and the environment. The program launched in September 2019, and currently has a roster of 14 Clubs in the Calgary area.By signing up to become an Earth Ranger, children, with support from their families, make a commitment to engage in actions that directly contribute to the protection of wildlife. Members can aspire to “level up” as Earth Rangers by completing tangible activities, participating in real-life conservation projects, and engaging with online content. But more than that, the program provides a sense of belonging, optimism and proof that when we all work together, we can make a difference.
