BeTheChangeYYC is a Calgary-based, volunteer-powered street outreach organization supporting people experiencing homelessness and people sleeping outdoors. Our teams meet people where they are, including evenings, weekends, holidays and extreme weather, to provide food, water, clothing, hygiene supplies, winter items, harm-reduction resources, first aid and compassionate connection. We also help people navigate housing, emergency shelter, detox, treatment, health care, legal and community services. Our approach is low-barrier, relationship-based and informed by lived experience. We work with nurses, paramedics, social workers, addictions professionals, community members and trained volunteers. In 2024–2025, we recorded 19,860 client interactions, 4,014 referrals, 540 medical or first-aid administrations and more than 6,593 volunteer hours. Our goal is to reduce immediate risk, build trust and help people move toward safety, stability and an end to the cycle of homelessness.
