The Young Alberta Book Society brings Albertan authors, illustrators and storytellers into schools to work with kids and get them interested in reading and writing. More interest in reading and books helps to translate into stronger literacy skills which helps kids find success in school and life. Unfortunately, many school budgets right now are tighter than ever and there are no funds for extras like artist visits, despite an increased need for motivating activities. Donations will be used to provide free author visits for schools this school year. (Note that all visits are online during the pandemic.)
