Caregivers Alberta provides Alberta’s one million unpaid family caregivers with the support they need to sustain their pivotal roles. Family caregivers are an essential, shadow workforce of our healthcare system. It’s a role caregivers often take on unexpectedly and without choice. There is very little recognition of the important role they play, or the support and services they need to preserve their well-being during this time of giving, financial strain, balancing work and care, managing strained family relationships, managing stress and overwhelm, and taking on a huge burden of responsibility to care for their loved one.

Our caregiver support services include:

Caregiver Support Line: 1-877-453-5088 or [email protected]

Caregiver Coaching: Free one-on-one coaching, a listening ear and system navigation and planning

Caregiver Support Communities: Peer groups that meet regularly to address their most pressing caregiving challenges

COMPASS for the Caregiver: A four-module certificate program teaching caregivers to care for themselves while caring for a loved one

Caregiver-Centered Care Certification: A multi-session program to assist professionals in health and community care to create positive partnerships with family caregivers

Work & Care Certification Program: A multi-session program for employers to address the workplace issues that arise due to caregiving, and better-support working family caregivers

Peer Support-Group Facilitator Training: Become a peer support-group facilitator and run a Caregiver Peer Support Community in your own organization, town or city

Volunteer Ambassador Program: Become a volunteer ambassador for Caregivers Alberta to help reach caregivers-in-need across the province, raise awareness of caregiver challenges, and increase referrals to Caregivers Alberta for support

COMPASS Facilitator Training: Become a facilitator of our award-winning COMPASS for the Caregiver program – and deliver caregiver education in your own organization or community

Our programs are all operated on a free or cost-recovery basis.
