Alcove Centre for the Arts (Alcove) is an arts and cultural hub in Calgary, Alberta. We’re passionate about making the arts more accessible and inclusive for all, offering a recreational arts space in the heart of downtown Calgary where residents can connect with a wide range of creative experiences. Our arts space offers a platform for emerging local artists to share their work and grow their practice and audience. It also provides a place for members of the community to engage with the local arts scene and cultivate their creativity.

We believe in:

  • Creative Living – Art isn’t just something we consume – it’s a way of life. Alcove fosters a culture where creativity is embedded in everyday experiences. Whether you’re an artist or enthusiast, we encourage experimentation, self-expression, and lifelong learning.
  • Accessible Art – Everyone deserves access to the arts. We break down barriers – financial, physical, and social – so that creativity is available to all. Through a donation model, community-driven programming, and welcoming spaces, we ensure that art is for everyone.
  • Well-Being – Art has the power to heal, inspire, and bring people together. We believe in fostering spaces where creativity supports mental, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Social Change – Art has the power to spark conversations and drive change. We believe in the role of artists as storytellers, disruptors, and visionaries. Through our work, we challenge perspectives, amplify diverse voices, and contribute to a more just and inclusive society.

Alcove cultivates creativity and builds connections within the community through donation-based art-based programs, artist showcases, and event partnerships. We offer…

  • Donation-based workshops for all skill levels and ages
  • Curate intentional spaces that are warm and welcoming
  • Open studio hours with shared materials
  • Free community events and exhibitions
  • Event partnerships (support with talent booking, engagement activities, etc.)
  • A platform for emerging artists to share their work

Support Alcove’s Future!
To meet growing demand and keep our programs affordable, we require funds that will allow us to:
– Sustain our creative space – help cover rent, utilities, and insurance
– Expand our programming – offer more workshops and open studio hours
– Support our artists – fairly compensate the facilitators who bring these experiences to life
– Keep it accessible – ensure programs remain donation-based, not income-based
