Established in 2014 near Calgary, Alberta, Canada, The Alice Sanctuary is a registered charity, women-led farm animal sanctuary and home to over 200 farmed animal residents. The Alice Sanctuary’s mission is to provide care and healing for rescued, surrendered, and abandoned farm animals.

Donations are used toward:

-Veterinarian care: neuters, vaccinations, deworming, hoof care, medical care/needs,

-Life-long care for farmed animals: without a model for senior farmed animals, we are working with a team of professionals to enhance the lives of aging farm animals : optimizing infrastructure, targeted nutritional feed, vitamins and medications, specialized animal care-givers

-Paid positions: animal (resident) care-givers, volunteer coordinator, Humane Education coordinator

-Humane Education Programs: collaborations with outside organizations, such as Calgary Humane Society

-Affordable Family Day Tours, Public Tours, Cow Therapy

-Daily/seasonal necessities: hay, straw, bedding, heat lamps, water heaters, feed

-Infrastructure: shelters, fencing, water systems,

-Sustainability Projects such as our 60 acre hayfield, manure/compost program, compost spreading, community garden, micro greens program

-Team building volunteer days with external businesses and organizations

-Rescue collaborations with local rescue organizations such as ARRCS, CATASKFORCE, and Animal Bylaw
