VIVO IS EXPANDING!!
“When a community is striving for wellness they need that shining star or light house that they can look to as a guide – Vivo is that guide providing a common bond for all of us. To keep that light shining we need to take the next step and make it even brighter.” Surinderjit’ Stan’ Plaha, President, North Calgary Cultural Association
All In for Community is an urgent matter of not only time but also of space. Vivo is serving the largest community with the smallest amount of space when compared to other facilities in Calgary. This pushes community members into their cars and out of their neighbourhood to make meaningful connections. Our community is asking for more space to support their healthy living lifestyle.
This young and diverse community represents the future of Canada where one in two residents identify as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Colour (BIPOC).
North-central Calgary has nearly doubled since 2004 growing from 80,000 to over 150,000 people calling this region of Calgary home. It will grow to nearly 200,000 in the next decade with development north of Stoney Trail – a 5-minute drive from Vivo.
Vivo’s Expansion project will be an inspiration for the next generation of community infrastructure across the country.
You can become a change-maker in your community! Your financial contribution will give Calgarians more spaces for connections by building a first-of-its-kind indoor park, expanding the pool and fitness areas, adding more community gathering space, and dedicated research and innovation space.
The All In for Community campaign will raise the remaining 10% of funds required for Vivo’s expansion – a 135,000 square foot, $62 million project that will unite all ages, abilities and cultures. You can become a donor, volunteer or champion and make a difference today.
Once complete, the expansion, renovation and existing spaces of Vivo will be 262,000 sq. ft. of inclusive, accessible and sustainable spaces where everyone will feel like they belong.
Space to learn and grow
Your generosity ensures Alta and Amanda can register their daughters in swim lessons to acquire critical life skills without having to coordinate their registration with military-precision and often still ending up on a waitlist.
Space to belong
Your care means this diverse community can finally celebrate Diwali, Lunar New Year, Eid, Christmas and many other holidays and events together.
Space to be healthy
Your compassion means Surinderjit ‘Stan’ and other hardworking volunteer-leaders in this community have space to support the community’s social, mental and physical health without waitlists or needing to leave the community to find space.
