At Youth Central, we empower youth to build their communities. Since 1992, we have connected youth in Calgary with their communities through volunteerism, leadership, and hands-on opportunities that build critical skills and foster a sense of belonging. Annually, we engage over 2,200 youth aged 12–18 in Calgary and surrounding areas.

This Giving Season, we’re calling on our community to “Give the Gift of Service and Connection” by supporting our campaign to raise $50,000.

Your donation will ensure that Youth Central can continue to deliver transformative programs that help Calgary’s youth realize their potential, contribute to their communities, and find joy in giving back. A contribution of just $50 can provide the resources for a youth volunteer’s project, while $500 can support a leadership training session for an entire group of aspiring changemakers.

Why It Matters

Our programs do more than teach valuable skills—they inspire youth to see themselves as capable, empowered individuals who can make a difference. Youth who participate in our initiatives report increased self-confidence, improved communication skills, and a stronger sense of belonging and purpose.

  • “I have learned a lot about our communities and how stereotypes have played a huge role in society, especially against seniors and the homeless. I always have an awesome time volunteering, enjoying the people and feeling rewarded by the end of every project. Honestly, I really like their structure of executing introductions, icebreakers, and reflections as it always makes me feel welcome and allows me to express myself in a friendly, inclusive environment, instead of an awkward one. It always surprises me how approachable and like-minded the staff and volunteers are!” – Youth Participant
  • “I have come across many friendships, lessons, and long-lasting memories thanks to Youth Central. Volunteering with them adds excitement to my days and helps to keep my mental health in check. Because of these significant benefits, I always recommend it to my friends.” – Youth Participant
  • “Volunteering with Youth Central has enlightened me and transformed my life into a more appreciative, outgoing, and compassionable perspective.” – Youth Participant
  • “Youth Central has been such a positive environment for my child to be in. Dealing with anxiety can be overwhelming for a teenager but ALL the staff have been accepting, welcoming and accommodating for their needs. This was hands down the best choice for us to start volunteering with such an amazing organization, they have a wide range of jobs available to choose from and the leaders go above and beyond to make all the volunteers feel welcome and have fun! If you are looking to start volunteering and make new friends I would absolutely recommend joining Youth Central” – Jillian, Parent of youth participant

Looking Ahead

Today’s youth face unprecedented challenges—from social division and digital distractions to skyrocketing living costs and mental health struggles. Meanwhile, donations and adult volunteerism have dropped sharply post-pandemic, leaving community organizations stretched thin. To succeed in this evolving world, young people need strong support systems, a sense of purpose, and essential skills like communication, collaboration and teamwork more than ever before.

Demand for our programs are at an all time high. Youth are ready to give back and make a difference; with your support, we can create 1,000 additional opportunities for youth in the next year to help them lead with resilience and impact.

How You Can Help

We invite you to join us in reaching our Giving Season fundraising goal of $50,000. Together, we can continue to provide meaningful opportunities for youth to grow, lead, and give back. Whether through a one-time donation, corporate sponsorship, or volunteering, your support is essential in helping us build a brighter future for Calgary’s next generation of leaders.
