Vision Statement: Heart of the Community, Key to the World

Mission Statement: To enrich, inspire and empower the community by providing space and resources to stimulate curiosity and innovation, life-long learning, community connection and leisure pursuits in a safe, welcoming environment.

The Okotoks Public Library has been at the heart of the community and a valued public service promoting inclusion, intellectual freedom, and lifelong learning since 1977. Okotoks is a community experiencing rapid growth, with a population of over 30,000 residents. We provide services and programs to community members of all ages to encourage literacy, learning, and creativity.  In 2023, we welcomed over 14,000 people to our programs in the library and surrounding community and currently have 16,951 library cardholders.

In 2021 to better meet the needs of our rapidly growing community, we moved the library into a new expanded space allowing us to expand our collection and offer more services including a dedicated teen library, Aecon Early Learning Centre for families with children ages 1-5, private study rooms, a quiet reading room, meeting rooms, and space for an expanded offering of free programming for all community members.

We aim to provide a diverse range of services and programs to meet the recreational, educational, and professional needs of all members of our community. We partner with local agencies to provide programs and services for immigrants and newcomers as well as accessible gathering spaces for residents and visitors. Our outreach services enable access to library resources for those who cannot visit in person.

We are looking for funds to expand our collection, programs and services. Future projects include eliminating the barrier of fees for library cards, purchasing and installing remote lockers for community members to access library material in other locations within Okotoks, and the purchase of a vehicle to allow staff to spend more time in the community and launch a home delivery service.

Donations of any amount are appreciated.
Donations of $20 and more receive a receipt for income tax purposes.
