Christie Lake Kid’s (CLK) mission is to enrich the lives and prospects of economically disadvantaged children and youth by providing quality year-round skills based programming. Since 1922, Christie Lake Kids has been responding to the specific needs of economically disadvantaged children and youth between the ages of 6-17 from the Ottawa area. Approximately 600 at-risk children and youth directly benefit from experiences in CLK programming each year both at our camp facility (located on Christie Lake near Perth, Ontario) and from our strategically located year round programming which is offered in various high-risk low-income communities in Ottawa.
There are three main components of CLK programs that bring to fruition the mission and vision of Christie Lake Kids. Each part of the program is designed to maintain a continuum of support and dependable structure for the kids we serve. All parts are integral to our overall philosophy and include the following programs: Skills Through Arts and Recreation (STAR- for ages 6-12); Leaders in Training (LIT- for ages 13-17); and Christie Lake Camp (for ages 9-13). All CLK programs are offered at no cost and have a high staff/volunteer to participant ratio which allows us to work more effectively with children and youth who have complex behavioral issues and specialized needs.
