From a young age, Josh was interested in the Natural Sciences and was keen on obtaining an education that was full of potential and possibility. Inspired by a conversation with an Ambrose professor at an open house, Josh knew that Ambrose was the place for him. His years at Ambrose have created plenty of opportunities for success in the classroom, while also challenging his knowledge and understanding. In his first year, Josh leaned into the academic side of his education and was successful, but something was missing.
In Josh’s second year he started to see how the faculty and other students cared about the quality of education but also who you were. For Josh, the community at Ambrose has always seemed to come at a time when it was needed most. In fact, it has lit a spark in Josh’s life to pursue medicine as a way to “combine my love of knowledge and people into a practice where I can give back to my community”. Josh’s goal is to go on to become a medical doctor use that as a way to give back to his community and those in need of a caring community around them.
With a history dating back to 1921, Ambrose University has been formed around the idea of building community and relationships while maintaining high academic standards. Ambrose University was formed in 2007 when Alliance University College and Nazarene University College joined together to provide new and stronger academic programming.
Today, Ambrose University is a Christian higher education institution with a vision for the welfare of our community, our city and our world. The university engages in a supportive yet challenging learning environment in which students can pursue their academic interests and prepare for their careers while also exploring and deepening their faith.
Ambrose offers programs such as Theatre, History, Business, Education, Ministry and Seminary programs with a quality of education that you just won’t get anywhere else. We integrate faith and advanced learning and encourage students’ personal and spiritual formation, and together as a community, we make space for students and faculty to explore and express their faith through everything they learn and teach.
What students learn at Ambrose goes beyond curriculum. Faculty get to know their students and are here to support them, a degree at Ambrose teaches discovery, wisdom, belonging and community.
Ambrose offers many different degrees. Our three areas of focus as an institution are the Arts & Sciences (Undergraduate studies), School of Ministry (Undergraduate studies), and Seminary (Graduate studies).

Thank you for considering a gift to Ambrose University. We have embarked on a new campaign to attract students to our university to join of vision for faith inspired learning.
Today, a Christian liberal arts university is all the more important in an increasingly pluralistic and secular society. We are keen to provide a strong alternative to the public university, with an emphasis on the integration of faith and learning, transformation in Christ, and authentic Christian community as the context and setting for excellence in higher education.
Our vision includes growth in enrolment and student satisfaction, growth in the selection of degrees we offer, the expansion of our campus, and the recognition of Ambrose University as one of the top destinations in Canada for Christian liberal arts education and ministry training. It is with this in mind that we ask you choose to join us in equipping our students to lead Godly lives, either in full time ministry or as leaders in the greater community.
Sincerely,
Gordon T. Smith
