The CNIB is committed to leaving no one behind.
We are requesting support for virtual programs the CNIB Foundation began in response to this crisis. Participants in Calgary and area have access to hundreds of free virtual program offerings – from vision mate volunteers to career support to tech training and social groups. Virtual programs can reduce social isolation, provide distraction, education, and recreation, and empower individuals impacted by blindness during these challenging times.
For people who have lost their sight, connecting with others, albeit by phone or virtually, who have experienced the same thing can make a world of difference toward rebuilding confidence, independence and a sense of hope. Many of our participants live in low-income situations, some have very limited support from family and friends, and many have additional disabilities putting them at increased risk.
