Cassie + Friends Society is asking for your urgent support of children and families affected by Juvenile Arthritis and other rheumatic diseases during the COVID-19 crisis. Juvenile Arthritis (JA) is a painful, debilitating and isolating disease at the best of times, however in this new reality of an infectious pandemic, parents across Calgary and surrounding areas are left to face huge fears, financial uncertainties and nearly complete home and social isolation in order to protect their severely immune-compromised children, many of whom are on low-dose chemotherapy and/or aggressive biologic medications. With cancelled medical appointments, reduced mental health and therapy services, and an overwhelming amount of conflicting information online, Cassie and Friends is ready to step-up and be there for these kids and families – but we need your help. The amazing pediatric rheumatology team at Alberta Children’s Hospital simply CANNOT meet all patient and families needs alone – they need you too. All emergency funds will go 100% to helping kids and families with unexpected costs, medical equipment, mental health resources, trusted information and the opportunity to connect directly with other affected youth and families during this unprecedented time of disconnection.
