Health and Black Communities in Canada

Dr. Salami received her PhD from the University of Toronto and is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta. Her research program focuses on policies and practices shaping migrants health, and she has lead research projects on topics such as immigrant mental health. In 2020, she founded the Black Youth Mentorship and Leadership Program at the University of Alberta and is involved in several community volunteer initiatives including: the Council of the Alberta College of Social Workers, the Public Health Agency of Canada Working Group on the Mental Health of Black Canadians, and the Bell Let’s Talk Funding advisory committee.
