Since 1990, Connections for Families Society has provided life-long supports to parents who have a cognitive/developmental disability (including Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and brain injury) to be successful parents.
Connections provides in-home support to teach hands-on parenting skills and home management strategies; group programs to counter the effects of isolation and increase life skills development; psychological counseling services to address trauma and build resiliency; and financial coaching to address poverty and increase financial stability for families.
Current funding priorities include operational costs of facility space for group programming and family visits; access to transportation for clients to attend programs; wages and salaries for the team to provide customized in-home supports to families; funds to provide counselling services to clients and families (contract clinical psychologist); gift cards to support clients and families (purchase of food and basic needs); as well as bus tickets for clients to access community resources and medical appointments.
