Big Hill Haven offers residential and outreach family violence programs in rural communities within Rockyview County. All programs reflect client-centered, strengths-based, trauma and violence-informed care. Big Hill Haven is committed to supporting clients as they establish formal and informal support networks. All programs and services honor the unique experiences of those seeking services in a rural setting. Big Hill Haven is committed to leading by example with the goal to become a helping organization with programs that respond to and reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion. While we operate using a gender-based violence lens and understand the disproportionate impact of violence against women and girls, we also understand the importance of recognizing and responding to men and gender-diverse people who are living in unsafe relationships. Big Hill Haven’s programs and services continue to be funded by the generosity of local donors, community investments, grants, and committed community members. As a result of community investment, Big Hill Haven continues to lead family violence programming in Rockyview County. All donations support Big Hill Haven’s ability to sustain programs and services, creating predictability and ease of access for those in need.

We are committed to inclusive and culturally informed programs and services. We recognize and respect the unique identities of Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, and Canadians of other ethnic identities, and the need for respectful practices that honor their experiences. We recognize our responsibility and role in reconciliation and support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. We commit to advocating and leading systemic change. We require our circle to engage in personal pursuits to unlearn what we have been taught and seek the truth, in order to support Indigenous women and children.
