Target funding area – Safeguarding our Ski Racing Community – Safe Sport Awareness & Education
Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) is committed to being a community and national leader in advancing inclusive, healthy, rights-based, safe sport for all individuals. Specifically, we strive to be an equitable and inclusive community, rich with diversity, protecting the human rights of all persons and based upon understanding and mutual respect for the dignity and worth of every person. It is the very foundation for a positive culture of excellence where our athletes, teams, coaches, staff, and volunteers can be at their very best.
Safe sport in Canada is rapidly evolving due in part to high profile abuse cases in sport and an increase in awareness and ability to report but a great deal more work is required at the community and Club level.
Alpine Canada’s funding sources, mainly through Sport Canada and Own the Podium, are restricted funds for high performance and currently very little can be allocated to advancing safe sport awareness and education across our ski racing community. Our Provincial Ski Associations and member clubs do not receive any funding towards safe sport education. ACA is committed to providing safe sport resources across our local ski racing community.
Funding Needs:
Financial support for the development and implementation of safe sport education resources and positive culture building by ACA to deliver to our local clubs across Canada. These education resources focus on mental & emotional health and physical well-being that build a positive, safe sporting culture within our community.
