The Fresh For Life Foundation provides mentorship-based educational training, via ReMiX Urban Arts & Wellness: One-on-One Wellness and DJ/MC lessons and workshops to incarcerated Youth (14-17) at CYOC, empowering them to learn productive, creative, and healthy life skills, critical thinking, and leadership tools to manage trauma and mental health. The funding priority is to secure funding for mentorship support to the Youth during and after incarceration, as part of a comprehensive wrap-around transitional plan: Instructor fees, insurance coverage, and music equipment.
The community benefits with the prevention of youth becoming adult criminals who instead use critical thinking and leadership skills, and access to Entrepreneurial Training, other work/internship opportunities secured through long-term mentorship. This lessens the strain on police, judicial, and welfare systems, higher rates of graduation and post-secondary training, creating self-regulated employees and entrepreneurs.
