For over 30 years, Volunteer Alberta (VA) has acted as a steward for volunteerism and a provincial representative for the nonprofit sector in Alberta. As an inclusive member association, VA nurtures an extensive network of community organizations and individuals to enable strategic connections, knowledge exchange, and opportunities for collaborations that contribute to the common good in Alberta. Our mission is to nourish wellbeing and foster healthy communities of belonging by cultivating conditions for volunteerism and civic engagement. We believe that by cultivating these conditions and illuminating the path forward, we can significantly enhance the quality of life for all Albertans.  

We hold an excitement about possibilities our collective futures may hold, and we seek to become good organizational ancestors. To do so, we act as a resource hub for the nonprofit sector as a whole, providing essential services like training and educational materials for sector development, access to affordable health and dental benefits for sector employees, and convening networking opportunities. With our growing Research and Social Design portfolio, we ensure that our services and resources provide grounded and contextual data that supports decision making responsive the diverse needs of the province.
