Our organization is dedicated to bringing excellent classical music to rural Alberta. We deliver  5-6 concerts per season featuring some of the world’s best instrumentalists and vocalists. Visiting artists have included André Laplante, Isobel Bayrakdarian, the Creole Choir of Cuba. Our aim is to make classical music accessible and fun by engaging artists who will communicate directly with our audiences in an intimate setting. Artists recount their stories of the music and help to demystify this genre which has endured over the centuries.

We also are dedicated to building and engaging new audiences by reaching out to our youth with masterclasses and workshops. Visiting artists work with youth to inspire and encourage them through their art. Past accomplishments include a workshop with 350 recorder students (Grade 3-5) with Canada’s only professional recorder ensemble -” Flutes Alors!”.  This past year, saxophone quartet, Proteus, worked with Grade 7-12 saxophone students to hone their skills.

We also support young emerging artists by providing opportunities to perform in a professional setting with a sizeable audience. This past year, twelve- year olds Luka Coetzee and Jacques Forestier played to a packed house. These concerts allow these hard-working, talented musicians to really shine and share their gift of music.

We impact many people from the region and continue to attract a number of visitors from the Calgary area, Lethbridge, Crowsnest Pass, Okotoks, etc… Audiences range in size from 225-325 (capacity is 325).

 Our programs include a concert season of 5 concerts featuring a diversity of musicians. The program runs from September- April. In addition, the visiting musicians conduct masterclasses, workshops, and/or outreach programs for schools.

This year marks our 10 year anniversary and we have developed a special initiative to mark this important occasion. We will be launching a week-long intensive outreach program, Creating Musical Futures. Visiting musicians with Ladom Ensemble will work with elementary students on musical projects and exploring the similarities between popular and classical music through composition.

We will also include a special concert outside of the usual season in a more casual setting (Carlson’s on Macleod) with this ensemble which specializes in world, classical and popular music.People can support us through volunteering and financial support.

Volunteer roles include helping out at the concerts in various roles: clean-up/take-down/ushering/hosting.
