Recovery Acres (Calgary) Society has been providing recovery-based treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders since 1973. We offer evidence-based, trauma-informed care that addresses concurrent mental health issues for individuals regardless of their gender. We recognize the chronic nature of addiction and its impact on families, children, loved ones, workplaces, and communities.
Over 17,000 individuals have received treatment for their addiction and mental health issues over the last 50+ years. Since 2016, we have added a facility and programs that address the specific needs for women seeking a life in recovery, and have helped to fill a gap in the co-occurring and substance use programs offered in Calgary and the surrounding area.
Our clients come from all strata of society. Doctors, lawyers, clergy, police, fire, first nations, professional athletes, musicians, business owners, tradespeople, health care workers, journalists, teachers, and so many more. All socioeconomic groups are also represented and have included the wealthy, the famous, the impoverished, the unemployed, single mothers and fathers, the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, the physically disabled, and the unhoused.
We operate at nearly 100% capacity for much of the year, and we have a vision for the future that includes additional treatment spaces for individuals that are seeking a life in recovery. More details will be announced in the near future, and your support will go a long way toward supporting a productive life in recovery. In fact, 70% of the individuals that start our programs are unhoused and/or unemployed. After successfully completing Phase II of our program, 100% of the clients are housed, employed, and off all forms of social assistance. We are indeed addressing a homelessness and unemployment issue by supporting an individual’s path to recovery.
