The Calgary Family Therapy Centre (CFTC) is a provincial non-profit organization, with federal charitable status, aimed at providing high-quality therapy services for the families of children and adolescents who are experiencing emotional and/or mental health difficulties including suicidality, self-harming behaviors, domestic violence, school refusal, and other risk-taking behaviors. The Centre was first established in 1973 and has become well-known locally and globally as a leading clinical, training, and research facility (www.familytherapy.org). Approximately 400 families are involved with the Centre each year. The educational and research components of the Centre are supported by volunteers, university faculty members, cost-recovery training activities, grants, and charitable donations.
