Join us at Southcentre Mall from June 3rd to 23rd for our fourth annual Indigenous History Month celebration in partnership with Authentically Indigenous.
This month-long event will foster understanding, appreciation, and celebration of Canada’s Indigenous Peoples. Experience educational activities, cultural displays, and storytelling sessions that connect both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.
June 3 (Monday): Kickoff Event at 11:00 AM with traditional blessings, dance, and drum performances. Opening of the life-size tipi exhibit.
June 7-8 (Friday-Saturday): Artisan Market featuring music, dance, and local Indigenous crafts.
June 8 (Saturday): Powwow at the Artisan Market at 11:30 AM.
June 9 (Sunday): Author Reading with Judy Everson in the tipi from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by book sales and signings.
June 15 (Saturday): Elder Storytelling. Details to be announced.
June 16 (Sunday): IndigeSTEAM Showcase with youth projects, robots, and mini tipis from 10 AM to 4 PM near the tipi with 3-4 display tables.
June 21 (Friday): National Indigenous Peoples Day – Celebrate the unique heritage and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
June 22 (Saturday): Puppet Storytelling by the Public Library.
June 23 (Sunday): Indigenous VR by USAY from 10 AM to 4 PM near the tipi with 2-3 display tables. Experience groundbreaking VR games showcasing Indigenous culture.
