In addition to food, fun, and raising money, the evening boasts keynote speaker, Dr. Jessica Dunkley, the first Deaf Canadian Métis physician. Dr. Dunkley will present a message of communication access as essential for Deaf & hard-of-hearing Albertans at work, in schools, and wherever they participate in society. This is so important because there is no accessibility legislation in Alberta; Deaf & hard-of-hearing Albertans get overlooked for jobs. They do not have the communication support they need in schools, and there is miscommunication at medical appointments and in emergencies.

This event is sure to “shake up!” your thoughts and challenge some of your perceptions.
