Indigenous Health & Wellness Conference 2024

We are thrilled to host and invite all Indigenous peoples to the 1st Annual – Indigenous Health & Wellness conference in Calgary, Alberta!

Indigenous Gatherings is excited to welcome hundreds of attendees to the 1st Annual – Indigenous Health & Wellness conference to share, learn and participate in interactive, inspirational, health and cultural workshops. On the second day, Wednesday February 22nd, special ‘Opioid’ presentations will also be included to help all our relatives near and far with this epidemic.

Our first keynote presenter – Anthony Thosh Collins (On Akimel O’Odham) is a community health educator and co-founder of Well For Culture, an Indigenous wellness initiative which focuses on reclaiming healthy, balanced lifestyles through ancestral knowledge and Indigenous ideologies.

Our second keynote speaker is Dr. Gabrielle Weasel Head, (Tsapiinaki) who is a member of the Kainai Nation, Blackfoot Confederacy and an Assistant Professor in Indigenous Studies with Mount Royal University. Dr. Weasel Head will present – Mokakit Iyikakimaat: Resilience as Nitsitapiyssinni, the Blackfoot way of Life.

Marni Hope and Lowell Yellow Horn – “Reclaiming Our Voices: The Power of Storytelling in 60s Scoop Healing”
Christine Longjohn, Norma Rabbitskin and Lisa Sakebow – “Grounded in Culture: Awakening the Art of Birthing and Healthy Childrearing”
Patti Currie, Brittany McMaster – “Being an Indian & Coaching” a discussion about the connection between First Nations, Physical Health & Cultural Wellness from a First Nation coaches experience & perspective.
Blackfoot Traditional Games – Jason Plain Eagle
Melanie Bazin (Crisis & Trauma Resource Institute)- Land-Based Wellness Nurturing Mental and Environmental Health.
Elders from various Treaty 7 communities will be on site welcoming, praying and supporting participants throughout the 3 days.

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel a registration after payment, we will require written notice but $100 from each registration is non-refundable. After January 15th, there will be no refunds distributed.
