Chromatic Theatre is a local theatre company that develops, supports, and creates spaces for racialized (Indigenous, Black, Persons of Colour) theatre artists in Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary). We do this by employing diverse artists and paying the professional and equitable fees to strengthen the community of professional artists, and engage non-traditional theatre going communities through cultural representation in the arts. Our work builds bridges that span the societal issues and mechanisms that divide us based on cultural identity, and promotes a broader appreciation for diversity.

Chromatic has four major programs:

• A mainstage production created by a racialized artist
• A yearly playwrights unit
• YYC Theatre Stats - a quarterly publication on racialized representation on stage and within creative teams for all professional theatre companies in the city
• Free community events such as our Reading Rainbow program (a theatre book club where racialized community members read plays together)
