Heritage Park – Preserving the Past. Inspiring the Future.

For more than 60 years, Heritage Park has been a cornerstone of our community — preserving and sharing the stories of Western Canada so we can better understand our future. As one of Canada’s largest living history museums, we offer immersive experiences that connect generations, foster belonging, and create lasting memories.

Each year, we:

  • Welcome 680,000+ visitors
  • Engage 65,000 youth in hands-on educational programs
  • Preserve 180 historic buildings
  • Safeguard 50,000+ artifacts
  • Benefit from 47,000+ volunteer hours

A Living History Museum

Heritage Park is a living history museum — and living history requires active care and renewal.

Our historic structures demand specialized preservation. Our artifacts require expert conservation. Our steam train, paddlewheel boat, midway rides, and agricultural equipment require ongoing mechanical restoration and skilled trades expertise. Our farm animals require daily care, veterinary support, and safe facilities.

These irreplaceable assets cannot simply be stored; they must be maintained, operated, and revitalized.

Looking Forward While Honouring Our Roots

Preservation alone is not enough. To remain vibrant and relevant for future generations, we must continuously:

  • Refresh exhibits and visitor experiences
  • Evolve educational programming
  • Expand accessibility initiatives
  • Reduce financial barriers for families and schools
  • Ensure storytelling reflects Indigenous perspectives and the diverse communities we serve

When you support Heritage Park, you invest in more than a museum. You help sustain a living cultural institution that preserves our shared heritage while keeping it dynamic, accessible, and inspiring. Together, we ensure the stories of our past remain alive — and relevant — for generations to come.
