Unlocking Opportunity Through Employment

Employment is one of the most powerful drivers of independence, stability, and well-being. Yet many Calgarians face barriers that prevent them from fully participating in the workforce. Disability, limited work experience, mental health challenges and systemic barriers can make it difficult for individuals to find and maintain meaningful employment.

For over 35 years, Prospect has helped individuals overcome these challenges and build pathways to sustainable work. Our mission is to reduce barriers and deliver sustainable solutions so that everyone, regardless of circumstance, can reach their employment potential.

Through specialized employment programs, career coaching, skills training, and strong employer partnerships, Prospect supports Calgarians to develop practical skills, build confidence, and connect with real job opportunities. Our programs serve people from many backgrounds, including military veterans, public safety personnel, foster youth, young adults, and individuals living with disabilities or mental health challenges.

The results are tangible. Each year Prospect supports more than 13,000 Albertans and partners with over 750 employers across a wide range of industries. Across our programs, 87 percent of participants achieve their employment or training goals, with nearly 1,000 individuals securing new jobs annually.

These outcomes create ripple effects that extend far beyond the workplace. When Calgarians find meaningful employment, families gain stability, communities grow stronger, and more people are able to contribute to our economy.

As Alberta’s labour market evolves, inclusive employment supports are becoming increasingly important. Automation, emerging industries, and shifting workplace expectations are changing career pathways and creating new challenges for job seekers who already face barriers. Despite these challenges, Prospect continues to play a critical role in ensuring that more people have access to employment opportunities and are able to contribute to our economy.
