Our work
The Tuulamaa International Civic Organization (TICO) is a registered nonprofit charity dedicated to empowering equity-deserving communities across Calgary and surrounding areas. Led by and for the community, TICO focuses on supporting Black, racialized, newcomer, low-income, senior, and disability populations to overcome systemic barriers and build sustainable, self-sufficient futures.
Our programs provide culturally responsive digital literacy training, career advising, access to essential online services, and community-based support offered in English and native African and newcomer languages (including Afaan Oromoo, Tigrigna, Amharic, Kiswahili, Punjabi, Tagalog, Mandarin, and Spanish).
How Your Support Makes an Impact: Donations and grant funding directly power our grassroots initiatives by providing:
Essential Hardware & Infrastructure: Equipping community members with barrier-free access to computers, software, and high-speed internet.
Multilingual Education & Materials: Translating practical workbooks and skill training into community languages so non-English speakers can thrive.
Career & Civic Mentorship: Funding dedicated instructors and career advisors who guide community members toward meaningful employment, financial literacy, and online healthcare/government access.
Safe, Inclusive Spaces: Fostering supportive learning environments that alleviate social isolation and build lasting self-confidence.
By supporting TICO, you invest directly in community-led solutions that bridge the digital divide, foster economic equity, and ensure every individual has access to the resources they need to succeed.
