Our history…..

Since 1917, 4-H Alberta has been the youth organization of choice for family-friendly youth leadership development, providing first-class and hands-on programming that creates a sense of belonging and connection.. The 4-H motto is “Learn to do by Doing” and we are incredibly proud of the positive impact our programs have on our members and Alberta’s communities. Our values and learnings have been passed along over the years and encompass a strong sense of community, volunteers, and leaders.

Each year, 4-H Alberta welcomes between 5,300 and 5,600 youth (ranging in age from 6 – 20) and over 2,300 Leaders and Volunteers who are actively involved in the delivery of the 4-H Alberta program. Members participate in a variety of programs and projects that align with our four youth development pillars: Community Engagement & Communications, Science & Technology, The Environment & Healthy Living, and Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security.

4-H Alberta inspires, educates, and develops members who are outstanding rural and urban youth, leaders, and engaged citizens. Members learn to do by doing dynamic projects, programs and community service. In honoring our rural roots, we continue to recognize the importance of food and agriculture in Alberta.

Childhood passes in the blink of an eye. At 4-H we believe in making each second of it count; that is why we have over 20 provincial programs designed to create unforgettable memories while developing skills and personal characteristics that last a lifetime!

4-H programs focus on developing self-confidence, teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills. Whether it is a summer camp built around having a blast in the great outdoors, a program that helps youth take ownership of their choices and their future, or a combination of the two that allows them to find their own entrepreneurial spirit and take pride in their achievements, 4-H programs provide the meaningful experiences every child deserves.

We are looking for funding for the following areas of giving:  Alberta 4-H Centre, Provincial Programs, Scholarships, and Area of Greatest Need.  For more information, feel free to contact [email protected]
