Alberta Hunter Education Instructors' Association

Requesting $400000

charity

With Covid-19 causing school and event closures, our students, seniors, and individuals of every description are confined to the four walls of their home. Of particular concern is the mental health of this isolation and boredom for kids and adults.
AHEIA can help with many on-line courses offered that prepare us for a fun and safe time in the outdoors of Alberta’s natural habitats – from city parks such as Fish Creek Park to the waterways running through Calgary. These courses cover things such as Bighorn Sheep Essentials, Bear Essentials, Conservation Hunter Education, Fishing Education, Boating Safety, Kidwise Firearms Safety, Archery Essentials, and so on, being the premier site for learning about outdoor wildlife activities.
The courses are offered either free or at a fraction of the cost of production. AHEIA has always relied on donations and grants to provide these quality programs. But these programs are at risk due to greatly reduced funding from the effects of Covid 19 on Calgary. These programs still require AHEIA staff support for troubleshooting and for mailing course specific materials. To lose these programs at a time when Calgarians are looking for something to take their minds off the worries of this pandemic would be a great loss for Calgarians and would definitely put future programming at high risk.
AHEIA would welcome your help to keep these wildlife activity programs happening.
