We raise awareness for childhood cancer through our annual Run for Childhood Cancer, our annual Touch of Gold Gala and social media campaigns. Ten percent (10%) of our fundraising efforts are allocated to awareness.

Believe in the Gold is partnered with Dr. Douglas J Mahoney and his ongoing research at the University of Calgary that may soon provide an exciting alternative to drug-based therapies for some cancers. Forty-five percent (45%) of our funding goes directly towards childhood cancer research initiatives.

The remainder of our fundraising, forty-five (45%) percent, is allocated towards helping families with medical expenses not covered by provincial health care plans or private insurance. The medical expense have to be verified by prescriptions from an oncologist or a note from a physician, Primary nurse or social worker.The majority of our fundraising efforts take place through our annual Run for Childhood Cancer and annual Touch of Gold Gala.

The Run for Childhood Cancer is held annually in September with the Run Committee hosting its 6th Annual Run in Calgary on September 29th, 2018. The event is presented as a family fun day starting at the pavilion at Eau Claire market with a 2km Kids Fun Run, a 5km Walk and a 10km Run. The Run for Childhood Cancer Kids Zone provides run participants, including our guest cancer families with bouncy castles, magicians, musicians, superhero’s, face painters and henna artists. Our Kids Zone also hosts a simple breakfast and lunch complimented by healthy snack foods and beverages.  In 2018 we’ve grown the Run for Childhood Cancer to three Canadian cities (Calgary, Regina and Winnipeg).

The annual Touch of Gold Gala hosts 4-6 children battling childhood cancer as our “Golden Stars” for a night out. The Stars are granded wishes at the Gala and made to feel extra special for one night to get away and “take a break” from the grinding journey that battling cancer puts them through.

 We need funding to support our Believe families. The medical expenses they face should never put them in a position of having to choose treatment needs over other family expenses.  Typical ask from a family is in the $1000 range, so each $1000 received helps a family in need.

We are always looking for more volunteers to help with the run or gala events throughout the year.
