We are a volunteer-run organization that wants to expand our capacity for hosting concerts by creating a safe performance, rehearsal and recording space that can be shared with other organizations. We program jazz concerts and women are vastly under-represented in this genre: the estimate is that women instrumentalists make up five percent of the professional jazz community. We are aligning with other music organizations who focus on women and we all share the need for a small, affordable performance venue are almost non-existent in Calgary, especially with a backline that includes a piano, drum kit and sound system. Our commitment to equity, inclusion and diversity is reflected in our concert programming, our board and committee memberships and in our educational programming.
