Bridges to Belonging

The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) is a youth-centered and family-focused non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the well-being of newcomer children, youth and families. For over 35 years, CBFY has fostered a welcoming and inclusive environment for newcomers by enriching them with the appropriate skills, information, knowledge and experience as they build a life in Canada.  Since 1990, we have proudly helped tens of thousands of immigrant and refugee families settle in Calgary.

MISSION | Champion the journey of newcomer children and youth

VISION | Newcomer children, youth and their families thriving in a harmonized, multicultural community

VALUES | Connection, Collaboration & Community

The CBFY “Hug” Model

We are a collaborative, youth-focused and culturally sensitive team that provides flexibility and barrier-free access to our services. Rather than employing a hierarchical model, we operate with a unique child-centered structure which emphasizes our collective responsibility in supporting each child’s successful settlement in Canada.

Our Major Programs:

  • Settlement Worker In Schools (SWIS) Program
  • Afterschool Program
  • Mentorship Program
  • Transitioning Into Post-Secondary (TIPS)
  • Youth Employability Skills & Strategies (YESS)
  • Bridges to Community

All our programs occur at the Bridge Link Family Resource Centre at our main office, and within schools, libraries or community centres throughout the city of Calgary.
