Epilepsy Association of Calgary provides support to the estimated 30,000 people diagnosed with and living with epilepsy in Southern AB. We are in urgent need of funds to support our operations through a period of transition in our fundraising role. Our most pressing need is for the ongoing support of front-line work. Our client-facing work involves peer-based programs, one on one counselling, and the delivery of evidence-based registered programming that supports mental well-being, aids memory related challenges associated with epilepsy, and helps people cope with a new diagnosis. When people are diagnosed with epilepsy, they rely on us to answer questions and offer compassionate support not offered elsewhere. Many struggle with how to manage work, school, and relationships fearing stigma and discrimination associated with a misunderstood neurological condition. Without us, people who need help can become isolated experiencing deteriorating physical and mental health. Our programs empower people impacted by epilepsy with new skills, tools and the confidence needed for self-advocacy. Your donation funds front-line supports. Epilepsy Association of Calgary is entirely self-reliant upon donations in order to operate. We do not receive any government grants or yearly operating funds from other large community grantors. We are powered by community. Will you help us?
