Goodwill Industries of Alberta

We self-generate income by converting donated clothes and household goods into opportunities for people and by diverting as much leftovers as possible away from landfills.

88.8 cents on every dollar raised from items donated to Goodwill Alberta help provide career training and job opportunities for Albertans’ with disabilities.

We are dedicated to celebrating job creation, diversity, inclusion, environmental sustainability, and collaborating with community partners.

We:

•  are a thrift retailer: items donated are sold through our thrift retail stores, giving locals an opportunity to obtain items at great value and recycling still useful items that could otherwise end up in a landfill;

•  provide individuals with disabilities the opportunity to enhance their lives and gain a sense of self-worth through meaningful employment;

•  have a Commercial Services division that provides a structured and accommodating work environment and delivers outsource assembly services to local businesses;

•  recycle donated goods that our thrift shoppers choose not to buy into cleaning cloths and other reusable materials that can be sold; and we

•  partner with other community organizations.

Our capacity to strengthen communities in which we operate revolves around the generosity of people choosing to donate to Goodwill and our ability to efficiently recycle and repurpose all donations.

People Value: We prioritize people over profit by providing the support every employee needs to succeed and a living wage.

Environmental Value: in 2018, 13.1 million kilos of items were diverted from the landfill. Instead, they were reused, repurposed, or recycled. We are working to ultimately achieve zero waste.Goodwill Alberta’s Employment Programs Help Albertans with Disabilities
Through our employment programs, we work together with employers, community members and volunteers to provide Albertans with disabilities the opportunity to enhance their lives through meaningful employment.

The Path to Employment program supports people with disabilities in locating employment or volunteer opportunities in their communities. Individuals are assisted with identifying their employment goals, employment preparation, job search and employment coaching.

Commercial Services is a division of Goodwill that provides innovative and cost saving services for companies.  We provide solutions in packaging, assembly, and light manufacturing. Consider outsourcing your assembly needs and/or product preparation to our Commercial Services program. Our creative and professional team is ready to support your packaging and assembly requirements.

Sustaining our Environment: We recycle 4 million kilos every year.  Donations that can not be sold are recycled or repurposed to keep them out of landfills. Our goal is to encourage Albertans to reuse goods by shopping at Goodwill thrift stores and to reduce waste by donating their clothing, furniture, and household items to Goodwill.Whether you’re a treasure hunter, upcycling fashionista, or a DIY expert, thrift shopping at Goodwill provides great finds at reasonable prices.
