Our Mission is to create an unforgettable home for western heritage and agricultural life, where every visitor – whether competing, learning, or spectating – feels welcomed into our community and can’t wait to return.

Who We Serve
The High River Agricultural Society operates a vital community hub serving over 20,000 visitors annually. Our indoor arena runs at exceptional capacity year-round, hosting multiple 4H Clubs (Beef, Foothills Sheep, Meadowbank), Perfect Paws, Future Cowboys and Cowgirls youth programs, weekly member riding sessions, and specialized training groups. We host competitive events including High School Rodeo, All Girls Canadian Rodeo, and Ranch Scramble competitions, plus four signature summer events—Fall Junior Rodeo, Little Britches Rodeo, Guy Weadick Pro Rodeo, and Battle of the Foothills Chuckwagons—attracting 12,000+ spectators. Our facilities serve everyone from newcomers to Canada to established agricultural families, with constant demand from jackpots, community rentals, and cultural events like the Medieval Tournament.

Critical Funding Needs
1. Grandstand & Indoor Arena Roof Repairs – Immediate Safety Priority
Our aging roof systems require urgent repair to ensure visitor safety and prevent further structural deterioration. These repairs are essential to maintain safe conditions for weekly youth participants and spectators, protect year-round programming regardless of weather, prevent costly emergency repairs and potential facility closures, and ensure we can continue serving community groups who depend on this space.
2. Mezzanine Emergency Exit & Renovation – Unlocking Community Space
Our mezzanine has tremendous potential as youth gathering and community meeting space but is currently out of bounds due to emergency exit safety violations. Funding would bring exits up to code immediately reopening this valuable area, create dedicated space for youth programs and community meetings, provide additional rental opportunities generating sustainable revenue, and offer versatile space for educational programs and community events.
3. Expanded Bleacher Seating – Revenue Generation & Accessibility
Additional seating capacity is critical to our financial sustainability. More bleachers enable us to sell more tickets to signature events generating crucial operating revenue, accommodate growing attendance at popular summer events, improve accessibility and comfort for families and seniors, and support our goal of making western heritage accessible to all community members.
4. Infield Chute Replacement – Competitor Safety
Our infield chutes require replacement to maintain safety standards. New chutes ensure safe conditions for competitors in rodeo and chuckwagon events, meet modern safety requirements for sanctioned professional competitions, maintain our reputation as a premier regional facility, and protect young competitors in youth rodeo programs.
5. Cabaret Area Cover – Multi-Use Community Asset
A permanent cover over our Cabaret area would transform this space into a year-round community asset, enabling reliable event hosting regardless of weather, creating rental opportunities for community groups and private functions, supporting events like the Medieval Tournament and community festivals, generating additional revenue to offset maintenance costs, and providing covered family gathering space during outdoor events.

Community Impact
Youth Development: Safe, modern facilities ensure we continue serving hundreds of young people through 4H programs, rodeo clubs, and equestrian training—building confidence, responsibility, and agricultural knowledge in the next generation.
Economic Activity: Improved capacity allows larger events, attracting regional visitors who support local businesses, hotels, and restaurants.
Community Connection: A fully functional facility provides gathering space for diverse groups—strengthening community bonds through shared western heritage experiences.
Financial Sustainability: Enhanced seating and rental spaces generate revenue funding ongoing programming and operations, reducing grant dependence while ensuring long-term community access.
Cultural Preservation: Modernized facilities allow us to continue celebrating and passing on western heritage traditions through rodeo, chuckwagon racing, and equestrian sports.
Accessibility & Inclusion: Safe, well-maintained facilities with adequate seating ensure everyone—regardless of age, ability, or background—can participate in our programs and events.

The Urgent Need
Operating at exceptional capacity year-round with weekly programs, monthly jackpots, and major seasonal events, deferred maintenance is no longer an option. These repairs are essential to keeping our doors open and our community safe. Without these investments, we risk facility closures displacing youth programs and community groups, lost revenue from events we cannot safely host, and inability to serve the thousands who depend on our facility.
