Insight Counselling & Therapy Centre will provide high impact counselling and psycho-therapy services to individuals and families, regardless of their income, to promote their emotional, social, and psychological well-being.
We will work in collaboration with other charitable organizations to target the most vulnerable communities and offer evidence-based models for conflict, relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety and so much more.
Insight is continually shaped by the evolving needs of our community – and right now – our community needs us. More than ever, individuals and families are facing significant challenges that impact their quality of life and mental well-being.
The world shifted with COVID, and the impact of the pandemic saw many individuals with increased stress, anxiety, fear, sadness and isolation. The numbers of people struggling with their emotional and psychological distress resulted in unprecedented number of people seeking counselling.
Fear of catching COVID-19, loss of certainty, economic instability, loneliness, and mandatory isolation contribute to challenges to our mental health never before experienced. Faced with having to navigate many transitions such as home-schooling children, working from home, and temporary or permanent employment loss, looking after our mental health has become essential. As a result, the demand for comprehensive and affordable therapeutic supports and interventions for children, youth, families and individuals are rapidly rising.
Unfortunately, while many individuals have suffered through the pandemic and have found some support …. too many are finding that they do not have the resources for mental health supports or they have to get on a wait-list in order to see a psychotherapist.
Insight serves the mental wellness needs of Calgary’s marginalized citizens who struggle with mild to moderate mental health issues. By offering substantially reduced fees (as little as five dollars per session) our organization makes counselling services accessible to all. Cost is never a barrier at Insight.
We have taken an innovative approach that strategically places our counselling and psychology degree candidates in community resource centers ensuring ease of access to counselling services throughout Calgary. We are asking funders to consider supporting new models of mental health service delivery.
Goal of the Program: To support vulnerable individuals develop the skills and resilience by using provisional psychologist in partnership with Calgary Resource Centres.
Counselling sessions are available in person-, online and over the phone. Barriers to in-person participation are reduced by providing low-cost affordable counselling within the Resource Centres, close to where the people live and work.
Every $100.00 donated allows us to subsidize low-income clients for an unlimited counselling sessions, or on as needed basis. Reaching our goal of $10,000 would significantly impact more than 100 new clients with over 3000 counselling hours provided.
Outcomes: Our clients report an 81% gain in their ability to deal with their symptoms of anxiety, depression, and grief. When you have positive mental health, you are able to handle problems and challenges more easily. Insight is doing things a little different than most non-profit counselling organizations, however in order to continue this important work we need your support. It is our hope that you will consider placing an investment in low-income individuals’ mental health interventions, where everyone can receive adequate, timely support, and where cost is never a barrier.
