The ICC will dramatically improve the Canoo experience for newcomers to Calgary. Canoo is a mobile app  providing 225,000 Permanent Residents and new Canadian citizens and their children with free VIP access to more than 1,500 cultural, arts, and natural attractions as well as special events across Canada. Surveys of Canoo members indicate that 86% of members feel an enhanced sense of belonging after one year, and 92% return to the places that welcomed them via Canoo after their membership ends

We currently reach 13% (31,420) of the eligible population across Alberta (primarily Calgary) and with this project we will reach 38%(91,843) by April 2024. The ICC will establish a stronger presence in Calgary by hiring a Canoo leader in Calgary. This leader will bring in new partners, especially for limited capacity or short-term events (e.g. festivals, cinemas, theatres, etc.), plus local volunteering opportunities and other invaluable welcome/integration experiences.

By improving the Canoo experience in Calgary and engaging more newcomers, we will ensure more newcomers fall in love with the city, implicate themselves in its arts and culture for the long term, and ultimately stay to contribute their talents and efforts to Calgary’s current and future prosperity.
