The Kainaiwa or Blood Tribe Community offers various community based services such as homeless shelter and a community food bank.
Our population of Nation Members living on the reserve/ community is between 8000-9000, and our employment statics are poor. The local economic sector does not have the capacity to sustain our population demands hence the high number of individuals and family’s on social assisted income supports.
The homeless shelter target group that mainly utilizes the homeless shelter services have a wide range of addictions and other health conditions related and or caused from drug & alcohol use. Within the past few years we have seen an increase in the homelessness population.
Our food bank service statics have always been consistent, our monthly numbers between range between 200-300 house holds requesting food subsidy services.
If selected the donation would be used to support the operations and supplies for these two highly needed community based services.
