L’Arche Calgary is a community of people with and without intellectual disabilities, sharing life together! Our mission is to make known the gifts of people with intellectual disabilities, revealed through mutually transforming relationships, and to foster an environment in our community that responds to the changing needs of our members while being faithful to our core values. We also strive to engage in our diverse cultures, working together towards a more human society. Our care model is based on the belief that people with disabilities are not patients, clients, residents or service users – but teachers, guides, companions, & friends, we call them Core Members. We celebrate the unique value of every person and recognize our need for one another in everyday life.

L’Arche Calgary has 5 homes and 2 programs that we support on a daily basis. In our L’Arche Calgary homes and programs our donations go to support daily living needs like, food security, transportation, mental health wellness, and most importantly employment. Donations also go towards supporting the arts which is a major part of our Day Program for people with disabilities. We hire Assistants, people to support those with disabilities; this is a major need and expense that we have as an organization. We make sure that those individuals we hire are well trained and supported, in order to fully care for Core Members physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and socially. Our Donors and all donations keep our community functioning, and alive & vibrant!
