For over 35 years, PREP has been breaking down barriers for children with Down syndrome so they can live active and included lives in their communities. We do this through our therapeutic and educational services, family supports, and educator supports. Every day at PREP we see that if children with Down syndrome have the right tools and appropriate environments for success, they can go on to accomplish incredible things.
We begin our relationship with families when their child with Down syndrome is first born and invite them to our Early Learning program. This is a play-based weekly meeting that introduces families to resources and therapies designed to promote early intervention for success. We also offer a multidisciplinary ECS program (PUF funded) that provides the skills necessary to successfully transition to Kindergarten. For our older children, we offer a number of therapeutic and educational services, including speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, behaviour therapy, and reading instruction. For our teens, we have a classroom based program focusing on independence skills, self-advocacy, regulation, and communication.
We also offer a range of workshops, webinars, and guest speakers to build the confidence and knowledge of our PREP families. For educators, we offer a range of workshops to help them create successful inclusive environments in their classrooms. We also offer individual consultations and resource development for teachers, education assistants, and administration.
At PREP we see the incredible accomplishments our children with Down syndrome can achieve and we are proud to support these incredible families.
