Student Energy

Student Energy strives to create meaningful educational opportunities, build skills and knowledge in young people, and facilitate open debate. Student Energy engages youth in unique programs that help them become the change agents of the future and works with and within energy systems to create space for youth to have an impact and develop professionally.

In the last year our program highlights include:

  • 20 established global Chapters with more being on-boarded
  • A digital reach in 135 countries
  • Over 1 million views on our Energy Systems Map
  • The launch of the first every Indigenous Student Energy Summit in January 2019

Student Energy continues to create programs such as our Energy Literacy and Chapters programs that empower young people to accelerate our transition to a sustainable energy future. The Energy Literacy Program brings energy information to the digital age with a dynamic energy system map, engaging videos, blog, and radio show. The Energy System Map is the premier tool for anyone, from young students, to university-level students, to the general public to engage with and learn about the energy system.

Student Energy Chapters empower university students to leverage our organizational knowledge and brand to take action on energy challenges in their local communities. Currently we have 20 Chapters globally, 3 of those existing in Alberta!

Finally, the International Student Energy Event has become the preeminent student summit on energy in the world. There have been five highly successful summits to date, from the inaugural summit in Calgary, to Vancouver in 2011, Norway in 2013, and Indonesia in 2015, and Mérida, México in 2017. In the summer of 2019, we will host our 6th annual summit in London, England, where we hope to bring together over 600 students from 120 countries. We are always looking for ways to further connect with our community on both a local and global scale. If you are interested in getting involved in any capacity, from becoming an event sponsor, to volunteering at an event, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
