The Energy Futures Lab uses a social innovation approach, which means that relationships, culture & narratives, resource flows, business models and policy instruments are the primary mechanisms used to shift the system. While our current energy system perpetuates inequities, the EFL’s theory of change is predicated on marginalized and underrepresented groups having a critical contribution to creating an equitable future energy system. The EFL is looking to activate and deepen its ongoing work towards reconciliation by implementing recommendations from a recent Indigenous Equity Audit. This includes developing a Reconciliation Action Plan; strengthening relations with Indigenous Fellows, communities & organizations; establishing an Indigenous Advisory Circle; and capacity building for EFL team and Fellows. The goal of this work is to create a solid foundation for the EFL to support Indigenous leadership across the energy system.
