We envision a world in which the impact and sacrifice of our military community is understood, appreciated and brought to life in contemporary times. While facts and reasoning are important, it is the heart and not the head that rules most of us.

By creating a living archive of our Canadian military stories, we hope to capture and share the fullest collection of voices through our War In Pieces exhibit.

War In Pieces is a collection of beautiful, powerful little stories, told in first person and donated by actively serving soldiers and veterans. We provide an intimate glimpse of life through their eyes as we exhibit these stories, with a memento that symbolizes each, in our travelling pop-up gallery.

Our exhibit reveals the challenges and rewards of military life, how some storytellers protect themselves from the trauma of combat, the depth of the bonds that they share with their fellow soldiers, and how the experience of war forever changes perspectives. A deep breadth of emotion is shared in these original stories, including amusement, pride, despair, love and gratitude.

The War In Pieces gallery travels to communities that express interest in hosting and can accommodate our exhibits. If you’d like to host a War In Pieces exhibit at your school, or in a public space, we will proudly come to you.

With your help, we can continue to share heartfelt war stories of commitment, sacrifice and heroism to life. Help our service members tell their stories.

All gifts and donations made to the War Stories Society go directly to enabling the presentation of War In Pieces. We are a charitable, volunteer-run organization and there is no charge to view our exhibits. Your gift today will ensure our stories continue.
