WCS Canada saves wildlife and wild places in Canada through science, conservation action, and by inspiring people to value nature.
We use a unique blend of on-the-ground scientific research and policy action to help protect wildlife across Canada. Our scientists are leaders in developing solutions to address conservation challenges, from the impacts of climate change on wildlife and wild areas to the cumulative effects of resource development and other human impacts.
The Alberta Community Bat Program is part of WCS Canada’s Western Bat Conservation Program, which is committed to protecting bats and bat habitats in Western North America.
We are working to protect bats in Alberta by:
Providing opportunities to learn about bats and bat management.
Inspiring people to be leaders in conservation.
Conducting research to fill critical knowledge gaps.
Working with Governments to influence policy and leverage efforts and support.
Developing strategic collaborations and partnerships, including engaging the public.
Monitoring bat populations and bat diversity to guide conservation efforts and strategies.
Applying the best available science to our work.
Communicating scientific findings.
