The Werklund Centre Transformation (WCT) and the Olympic Plaza Transformation (OPT) are a $660 million investment of the Werklund Centre campus, the largest cultural infrastructure investment currently underway in Canada. Once complete, the project will create two new theatres for the community (with 1,000 & 200 seats respectively),add a renovated outdoor plaza and pavilion to our campus and modernize our current infrastructure, which is the home of the iconic Jack Singer Concert Hall, the Martha Cohen Theatre, the Max Bell Theatre, and the Engineered Air Theatre.
Together, these projects are a comprehensive investment in Calgary’s downtown core that will do far more than expand and modernize Calgary’s premiere performing arts centre — it will revitalize our downtown, fundamentally changing the way people perceive, experience, and talk about the arts.
