Werklund Centre (formerly Arts Commons) is Western Canada’s largest arts centre and a cultural cornerstone in Calgary’s downtown, and home to five world-class resident companies.

We champion inclusion, reconciliation, and accessibility, ensuring the arts are central to civic life. Each year, we:

  • Present world-class performances like Classic Albums Live, National Geographic Live and a variety of special presentations.
  • Support Calgary’s emerging and underrepresented artists through TD Incubator, which nurtures interdisciplinary creators and visual artists through gallery exhibitions, cabaret-style performances, and several free community activations.
  • Inspire the next generation through Werklund Centre Education, with workshops, residencies, and live performances that bring curriculum to life.
  • Provide accessible ticketing and community programming that make the arts open to all.

As home to a wide range of visual and performing arts, Werklund Centre strengthens the social, cultural, and economic vitality of Calgary.

Supporting us means helping keep the arts thriving and accessible for everyone. Learn more at werklundcentre.ca/support-us or contact us at [email protected] | 403-294-7497.

Transform With Us

The Werklund Centre Transformation (WCT) and the Olympic Plaza Transformation (OPT) are a $660 million investment of the Werklund Centre campus, the largest cultural infrastructure investment currently underway in Canada. Once complete, the project will create two new theatres for the community (with 1,000 & 200 seats respectively),add a renovated outdoor plaza and pavilion to our campus and modernize our current infrastructure, which is the home of the iconic Jack Singer Concert Hall, the Martha Cohen Theatre, the Max Bell Theatre, and the Engineered Air Theatre.

Together, these projects are a comprehensive investment in Calgary’s downtown core that will do far more than expand and modernize Calgary’s premiere performing arts centre — it will revitalize our downtown, fundamentally changing the way people perceive, experience, and talk about the arts.
