The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies has been called a “national treasure in a national park.” For over 50 years, the Whyte has introduced visitors to the colourful history, people and events that continue to shape Banff National Park.

The Whyte is now embarking on an initiative to use its remarkable resources – paintings, photographs, films, mountain letters and diaries, and Indigenous stories – to connect people more closely with nature.

“We want to provide people with the resources to look at the world differently,” says Whyte CEO Donna Livingstone. Drawing on the Whyte’s spectacular location on the banks of the Bow River, the Whyte combines heritage homes, a world-class mountain archives and special collections, an art collection of breathtaking works, and tours and public programming that appeal to visitors of all ages.
