charity

YMCA of Northern Alberta is a charity igniting the potential in people in Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Wood Buffalo and Edmonton regions since 1907.

What does the Y do?

At our Health, Fitness & Aquatics centres, we give people the opportunity to improve their health and well-being with the support of our passionate and caring staff and volunteers. Offering opportunities for fitness, swimming lessons, sports, recreation and summer day camps, we believe that the chance to be healthy and find a community of support in your wellness journey is for everyone, not just those who can afford it. Of our roughly 15,000 members, approximately one in four access our financial assistance to participate.

YMCA of Northern Alberta is Western Canada’s largest provider of not-for-profit child care. Caring for roughly 2,500 children in 60 child care centres in the Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Wood Buffalo regions, we are providing quality early learning and child care for children from all walks of life.

Our community and housing initiatives provide invaluable support to vulnerable neighbours who are seeking support finding employment opportunities, safe and secure housing, help with parenting and family life, settling into Canada for the first time, navigating school and life as a teen, and so much more. These programs give everyone the chance to shine.

How you can help:

At YMCA of Northern Alberta, we rely on the generosity and community spirit of people like you to help us strengthen our communities. We know they need us to be there for them now and in the future.

When you give to the Y, you’re helping everyone in your community shine!

Your donations go towards:

– financial assistance so that everyone can have a YMCA experience and we can offer emergency child care funding
– free community programs in the areas of employment, family and parenting support, youth support, leadership and restorative justice, newcomer support, housing support and more
– building a sustainable, thriving community where everyone belongs and can shine
